1. St. Bernard. This is one of the fastest growing dog breeds and is very good if you have enough space and can afford it. Considering its large size (61-71 cm) and weight (50-91 kg), it needs a lot of food. It has a fur coat on its body which can be either rough or smooth. They live for around 11 years and are very good with children.
2. Mastiff. This has the shortest life span varying from 7-10 years. This can weigh from 86-100 kilograms and can grow big in size. They have a short for coat which can come in various colors. They are very courageous and friendly at the same time.
3. Great Dane. This breed has a lifespan of around 10 years with a size varying from 71-76 cm and weighing from 46-54 kg. The fur coat over its body is small and majorly is found in fawn color. This can be a bit costly but is a great companion for the family.
4. Doberman. This is the best dog breed in our list if it comes to how good a dog can protect. This is a very loyal dog but needs to be kept in strict boundaries while training. This can grow from 65-69 cm and can weigh from 30-40 kg. This is a very intelligent dog breed.
5. Bullmastiff. This breed can reach a weight of 41-59 kg and can be as large as 64-69 cm. The coat is short and is normally colored fawn. Moreover, this breed is very calm, gentle and at the same time very protective as well. This dog can go a bit stubborn at tikes while training but forms a great family pet.
6. Bernese mountain dog. This breed can reach a height of 58-70 cm and a weight of 40-44 kg. It has a long, soft and silky coat with black or white or red/brown markings. This breed is very good natured and is very obedient and devoted to the family. This breed lives for 10-12 years.
7. Rottweiler. This dog breed can grow to a height of 58-69 cm and capable of growing to a weight of 41-50 kg. Its coat is mostly black with patches of brown on it. This breed is self assured, a great guard dog and is not aggressive or vicious by nature. The Rottweiler has a lifespan of 11-12 years and is happy to live in the city or the country.
8. English Pointer. This is one of the Huge Dog Breeds that can grow to a height of 61-69 cm and capable of weighing 20-30 kg.  Out of our list of large dog breeds the English Pointer is at its best on the open country and does need lots of exercise. Their coat is short and normally colored black. This breed has a lifespan from 13-14 years.
